TV3 is reporting Julianne Hough met with Fox executives earlier this week to audition as a new X Factor judge. I hope this rumor is true? I’d love to see Julianne take this role. But, as followers to her know, Julianne is filming a new movie with Tom Cruise (“Rock Of The Ages”) which starts filming in May. Being the UK is famous for making up idiotic tabloid stories and being Julianne will be busy with the new movie during auditions this Spring and Summer, it’s unlikely this rumor is true. But, you never know (since Simon has confirmed he likes to feed the press with possible contenders in the running as well) which is why we decided to post on it to cover all bases. Singer Jesse McCartney also met with the executives. More details below.

The former ‘Dancing With The Stars’ professional dancer and country music star – who is dating ‘American Idol’ host Ryan Seacrest – held meetings with Fox executives earlier this week although she could face competition from singer-songwriter Jesse McCartney, who has also met with show bosses.

Both candidates have links to the show as Simon Cowell is an admirer of Jesse, who co-wrote his protege Leona Lewis’ single ‘Bleeding Love’, while rumoured judge Cheryl Cole is close to Julianne through her relationship with the dancer’s brother Derek Hough.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Simon believes Jesse has the right look for the show, and would appeal to both grandmothers and young girls. While Julianne looks fantastic on camera and has quite a high profile in the states.

“Cheryl would love Julianne to be involved as they’ve met through Derek. She would like a friendly face on board.”

Simon has recently revealed choosing the final judging panel is giving him sleepless nights because he and his production team keep changing their minds about who to have alongside himself and music producer LA Reid.

He said: “The truth is that the reason we haven’t announced the panel yet is that nobody can agree. New people keep coming along every week who we want to see.

Poor Simon. If true, it sounds like he is having a difficult time with this decision all around. Recently, he confirmed Fergie was in the running as a judge as well. There is growing speculation that Gloria Estefan might be a judge as well since her surprise appearance at the Miami auditions yesterday. I like the idea of these two as Judges as well.

While I don’t agree that Julianne and Jesse should be judges because I think both (more so Julianne) still needs to build up her credibility and her music/movie career, wouldn’t these two be super-cute as the co-hosts of the show??? I don’t know much about Jesse though, but he seems like a nice enough young man. But Julianne would certainly be talkative and bubbly and make people comfortable on stage. I saw Gwen Stefani on AI last night… I forgot about her. She could make an interesting and credible judge on the show. Plus, it seems like she is focused on raising her young kids in LA right now. She seemed so sweet to the AI girls.

Elmari, I couldn’t agree more. Julianne and Jesse would make two amazing “hosts” even more so!! Wouldn’t that be a catch and funny too if Julianne were the host of X Factor and Ryan (her boyfriend) the host of American Idol? lol

I love Gwen too (her music and fashion taste, everything) and would love to see her judge as well. Good idea. I hope they pick some people who really stand out and who are likable like Steven Tyler and J Lo on AI. One earlier rumor to judge the X Factor was Mick Jagger. I’d still love for that to happen.

      THANKS for your thoughts!! 😉

Vogue, don’t worry! I bet the blog will pick up more hits and comments once XF auditions with the judges start. The judges won’t be a mystery anymore and they can focus on the talent. It would be hilarious if Julianne was a XF host and Ryan the AI host. She’d definitely have a good mentor. But she is way too busy with her movie career. Footloose is going to come out in Oct 2011 and she will have to do so much PR for that movie. This is actually a really out there rumor. Perhaps, the producers were interested in her and put her name in the mix. I could see her as a guest judge. Julianne (and Derek as well) definitely have that X factor in abundance.

I think my suggestion of Gwen would be the strongest counterpart to JLO. Gwen has a successful career, she’s a trendsetter, she’s still young, and she is based out of LA and is settled. I don’t know why, but I wouldn’t think that artists like Katy Perry or Rihanna would want to do this because they are still working on their careers. Fergie is an interesting choice too. I wouldn’t mind her either.

Of course, my #1 choice is still Nicole S! I know you want CC to do it. But Nicole and Gwen on the panel would be AWESOME! That’s some serious star power right there!

I also thought with the confirmation of LA Reid, that the male judge spots are covered? I just love Steven though… so fun to watch on AI.

Thanks Elmari! I hope so to what you first said and I am going to remember how you were our first commenter. 😉

And Yeah, I would think the male judging spots are filled too. I wouldn’t mind Nicole judging either. Wow to the thought of her Gwen on the panel. That would be powerful. That’s the thing….they need a “powerful” judging panel if they want to compete with AI and to make an impact in this country. Everyone assumed without Simon, AI would phase out. No way. AI is here to stay …and thankfully so. Thanks to the new judges (I love Steven too), I am loving AL more than I ever have. But, I do miss Simon too and this show is going to be fun to watch as well as it will cover more than just one specific talent.

I hope you are right about Julianne and Derek guest judging. That would be awesome. I really wouldn’t be surprised if Derek will somehow be involved with choreographing or something else. I mean…whose to say he couldn’t work some on X Factor and dance on DWTS at the same time next season (that is if the DWTS execs let him)?

Oh, and I had forgotten how Julianne will have the press to work for Footloose in October. Thanks for the reminder. You’re right how that will have her busy as well. (I can’t wait for that movie!!)
